The Stranger Ritual

DISCLAIMER: I do not recommend messing with the paranormal. I only post these games for entertainment and because we all love a good scare.

The Stranger Ritual is cast as a killing curse by summoning an entity known as the Stranger, using a doorway as a portal. Nothing is known of the Stranger, anyone who has seen it has gone blind or insane. It was found on the Creepypasta Wikia and I believe the User Sylar1610 to be the author.

~You will need~

• A room with a solid wooden door. It should not have any peepholes. It should have a locking system. 
• A photo. It cannot be an image of a family member. It must be recent and clicked by you. You should know this person’s name. 
• A black and a white candle. 
• A lighter.
• A piece of chalk.
• A gift. It must be an impersonal item, recently bought. The OP recommends candy. 

~Preparation~

• Before you begin, open the door fully and mark a spot just beyond the extent of the door. This is the boundary of your safe zone. 
• Close all the doors and windows, pull the curtains shut. Cover the mirrors with a cloth. 
• Start close to midnight. This ritual can be performed any time at night, but the midnight hour gives better results. All the lights must be switched off. You also must be alone in the house. Carry the photo with you. 

~Gameplay~

• Close to midnight, chalk the word “STRANGER” on the inside of your door. 
• Light your candles and place them on either side of the door frame. 
• Place your gift in front of the doorway on the spot you marked in the ‘Preparation’ stage.
• Now knock thrice on the door and wait. 
• If you hear three answering knocks from the other side of the door, you have succeeded.
• Open the door slightly. Then immediately turn your back to it. 
• You will hear the door swing wide and feel the Stranger’s presence. You may feel a chill or a nagging sensation that something is wrong. If you want to abort mission Skip to Ending#2. 
• Remain calm. The Stranger is your guest. He will not harm you. 
• If the Stranger likes your gift, he will ask you for a name. Look at your photo and mention the person’s name.
• When you hear the door close, it means the Stranger has left. Turn around.
• The outcome depends on what you see next. 

ENDING#1:

• If your gift has gone, that means the ritual is a success.
• Wipe away the word Stranger and blow out the candles. 
• Lock the door firmly. You should not open it until sunrise. This is to prevent any transfer from the Stranger’s world to your world.
• Burn the photo immediately. 
• For the next three days, check the obituaries. The person you named should have died. 

ENDING#2:

• If at any point you were frightened during this ritual, politely apologize and ask the Stranger to depart. Wipe the words off your door, extinguish the candles and lock your door. Do not open until sunrise. 
• Burn the photo immediately.
• You must not attempt the ritual again. The Stranger is displeased. 

WARNINGS:

• You must not look at the Stranger. 
• Do not forget to burn the photo within three days. If you don’t the image will be replaced with a photo of you and you will die within three days. 
• Do not attempt this ritual again if you failed the first time. 
• Be careful with candles and matches in the dark.
